Stop? WHAT'S THAT??

So my prospect horse was in a bit of a hyper mood today. And once he got to cantering he decided it would be a lot more fun to just keep going instead of listening to his rider's - that would be moi - aids. So today was one of those "ignore the human siting on your back days ( Read more... )

I'm glad you lived to tell the tale! Sounds like a fun ride, even if it was a bit out of control. But then again I'm a bit nutso, so my idea of fun is not everyone else's idea of fun.

I liked David Tennant, but I love Matt Smith.

So I've noticed ;) I just can't get myself to like Matt smith, he's a good actor, but he looks like an overgrown 16 year old *hides*

Yeah, for once I had a horse bolting on me stayed on! GO ME! Now to go kill Z because I'm sore as hell due to his antics... Just kidding. Well, that rules out any lameness issues, that's for sure. No horse with soreness issues likes to ruin THAT much :P

I mean to each their own- I have a thing for floppy haired slightly goofy looking guys. If there is a man who's babies I would like to have it's Matt Smith. But yeah, I'll pass on the babies bit. You don't hate me for not being the biggest Tennant fan, I'll forgive you for Matt.

Staying on is good! I'd still get a soundness check- I knew a horse that was perpetually lame would only gallop- no other gait besides walk. Probably because it hurt and running away from the pain seemed like a good idea. but he looked lame at the gallop (and was terrifying to ride). O.o

Yeah to each their own, and this way we don't need to share! Haha!

It is! Most of my falls were over a horse bolting and getting so tense that I'd bounce right off the saddle. My new trainer helps too, because she always always has a way of saying things that helps me get my wits together.I used to have a trainer who yelled a lot and only made it worse. Because, really, screaming "YOU NEED TO RELAX!" and "GET THAT HORSE UNDER CONTROL!" at the top of your lungs isn't very helpful... My new trainer always says things calmly no matter what happens.

Oh I wouldn't worry about lameness, this "guy" is just high spirited. My BM and trainer would never put a lame horse to work. I can tell he likes to canter. His trot is very smooth, as is his canter, I think he has some excess energy to burn there. When I have him for myself I'll make sure to lunge him before getting in the saddle and give him some turn out time when I'm not riding him to help him burn some of that energy.
