“Yunnie hyung, look! Look at that!” A little boy exclaimed excitedly as he pointed at a squirrel eating hastily on the branch of a tree. “What is that called?!” He asked laughing.
“It’s called a squirrel. You haven’t seen one before?” A mini version of Yunho responded smiling.
The laugh of the boy was contagious and the way his eyes became mismatched. His smile was something Yunho wanted to look at all day long. He was glad he was able to make someone this happy with only a few words and actions.
The little boy squealed in happiness. “No! It’s my first time!” He answered.
“C’mon. Let’s go play something instead of just staying here,” Yunho suggested. They could go and play in the nearest park. They could play hide and seek in the woods, or maybe he could go for his ball and they could have a match of soccer.
“I wouldn’t mind Yunnie hyung,” the little boy answered. “I like being here with you.”
Yunho felt his cheeks grow warm. He was used to being complimented, but somehow his new friend was different.
He didn’t know why, he just was.
“Don’t be silly! Let’s go!” Yunho said once again and grabbed the boy by the wrist.
Both ran happily to the nearest park.
*
Yunho opened his eyes and sighed when he noticed it was still dark. He sat up from the couch and reached blindly for his cell phone on the coffee table.
It was 3am again, and he had dreamt about that boy again.
It had been a week since Max had arrived, so now he was a used to sleeping in the couch. But ever since that day BoA arrived, he felt that there was something familiar between the boy in his dreams and Max.
Those eyes.
Yunho couldn’t help but notice the striking similarity of Max’s eyes with the ones of the boy in his dreams. Maybe that was why he wanted to help Max somehow, because he reminded him of his imaginary friend.
He laid down on the couch again and looked at the ceiling. A few minutes passed and he sat up, running a hand through his hair. It seemed like he wasn’t going to be able to sleep again. Yunho threw off the thin blanket, and went to the kitchen for something to munch on. He needed energy if he was to gain inspiration for his next art piece.
Yunho was a painter and right now he wasn’t in his best phase. It had been almost 2 months since he had been able to actually paint something. Still, he considered himself lucky because several of his paintings were sold in the exhibition he had at a small gallery. He didn’t earn millions or thousands, but it had been enough to live peacefully. Well, maybe the fact that he liked to save as much money as possible had also something to do with it.
Yunho opened the fridge and pulled out the milk. He grabbed a glass and poured some of the liquid in it, remembering that BoA and apparently Max too, hated when he drank from the carton.
He heard steps and looked up to see a sleepy Max entering the kitchen. “Can’t sleep either?” Yunho asked, making the young man jump at the sudden voice.
Max squealed slightly and sighed as he recognized the voice as Yunho’s. He saw the other man smiling, and gave a small smile back.
The young man shook his head in response to Yunho’s question, and pointed at the glass the other was holding.
“You’re thirsty?” Yunho asked, and offered his glass to the other man.
Max shook his head again and wrinkled his nose.
Yunho laughed at that reaction. After a week living with Max, he had discovered some things about the man. One of them was that he didn’t like sharing other people’s pieces of cutlery or glasses.
He grabbed another glass and poured some milk in it before handling it to Max.
Max grabbed the glass with a smile and mumbled a ‘thanks’ to him. He still couldn’t talk properly but his voice was coming back little by little. He was able to form short sentences now, and Yunho was thankful for that.
“You’re welcome,” Yunho responded and noticed that the shirt Max was wearing as pajamas was the same one he had used for 3 days straight….and it was a bit dirty.
“You need some clothes. I can keep on lending you mine with no problem, but they look a bit big on you even though you’re slightly taller than me. Maybe it’s because I’m more built.” Yunho said, looking at Max who was now looking at his own clothes.
He turned to look at Yunho and nodded. He agreed that some clothing was needed for himself.
“Let’s go get you some later today. Only two pair of jeans and maybe 3 or 4 shirts since I don’t have much money at the moment.” Yunho said scratching his head.
Max smiled brightly at and nodded.
Yunho felt it again.
That tug in his heart whenever Max looked as beautiful as he did right now. Wearing that smile and those mismatched eyes he liked so much.

There was heaviness in the air, and everybody seemed a little tensed about the whole situation.
Kyuhyun didn’t really know why or how Chanyeol convinced him that letting Kai out to look for Changmin was a good idea, or a good plan. He still couldn’t believe that Chanyeol managed to secretly let the Changmin out and now….Kai. How did this even happen?
Guess he underestimated his protégé a little bit.
“There is no need for you two to be so tense. I’m not going to kill anyone,” Kai said from the back seat of the car they were in. Kyuhyun was behind the steering wheel, driving while Chanyeol was right beside Kai, looking intensely at him.
“I know,” Chanyeol added still looking at him. “But Kyu hyung doesn’t trust you, so it’s my job to keep an eye on you.”
“I could have killed both of you the moment you let me out. But I didn’t,” Kai said nonchalantly as he leaned back in his seat and crossed his arms. “I’m stronger.”
“My vectors are longer than yours,” Chanyeol responded smirking. “I’m older and taller.”
“And ugly,” Kai added with an amused smile.
Kyuhyun fought the urge to roll his eyes since he didn’t want to have an accident. Suddenly he didn’t feel as tense as before. If he had known better, both boys in the back could pass as normal teenagers.
He shook his head at the thought. That was exactly what made a diclonius so fatal. They looked normal, they looked peaceful but still they were very dangerous.
After some minutes of Kai and Chanyeol fighting playfully over who was better looking, they finally reached to Kyuhyun’s huge house.
“I’ll leave you guys here. I need to go back to the facilities,” Kyuhyun said once they were inside. “Chanyeol, please show Kai around,” he told Chanyeol before turning to look at Kai. “And don’t try to act like a smartass Kai. You’re being watched. If you make a wrong move you’re dead,” he added as if he wasn’t talking seriously, which they all knew he totally was.
Kai nodded and waved him goodbye, dismissing the topic quickly.
Kyuhyun waved to both boys and exited the house, leaving the two young diclonius alone.

As promised, Yunho along with BoA took Max out shopping. It was a hassle with the young man staring at everything and being scared of everything as well. The moment the entered the mall Max flinched. It was really noisy, and from her personal observation of the young man, she uncovered that Max hated loud noises. BoA could tell that Max was uncomfortable; he needed reassurance of some kind.
“Yun,” the petite girl whispered. The man turned and looked down at his friend with a questioning look. “You need to hold his hand or something. He looks like a lost puppy.”
Yunho turned to look behind him and he could have died from the cuteness that was happening. A familiar little white puppy was following Max around. The young man looked like he was ready to scream as it began licking at his toe in Yunho’s flip-flops.
“Max,” Yunho said amused, as he was backtracking. “It’s alright. It won’t hurt you. It’s just a tiny dog.”
Max looked at Yunho and reached out and grabbed Yunho’s arm as the puppy barked and wagged its little tail.
“Magdoongie!” A female voice called. “Come here, girl!”
The little white dog ran off and Max followed it with his eyes. “Gone?” He whispered with a tingle of sadness.
“Yes,” BoA smiled. “It’s gone.”
Max pouted cutely and BoA and Yunho laughed.
Yunho quietly slipped his hand into Max’s hand and led him into the first boutique. BoA greeted one of her good friends named Zhou Mi. The Chinese man smiled widely and bowed to Yunho and the new comer.
“And who is this?” He asked with a smile, but his eyes locked in on the tall man. “I’ve never seen him before.”
Max raised an eyebrow and looked at Yunho with curious eyes. The older man smiled and bowed back to the storeowner with Max following his lead.
“This is our friend Max,” Yunho introduced. “Max, this is Zhou Mi.”
Max gave a simple smile and nod. The man smiled as well, and that was when Max felt something. Something about the presence of this man was different. However, abruptly Max was pulled out of his own thoughts.
“MiMi, we are looking for clothes for Max here. Specifically turtle necks,” BoA said gesturing to the clothes the young man was wearing which was a hoodie and sweat pants.
Zhou Mi nodded as he looked Max from head to toe. “Turtle necks? Why?” he asked with a smile as he calculated which size he would be.
Yunho smiled nervously. “He likes them a lot,” he responded.
That day he and BoA had agreed that it was better not to tell anyone that Max had red scales on his collarbones until they discovered why he had them.
“Jaejoong!” Zhou Mi called towards the back of the store. “Come and help BoA and Yunho!”
All of a sudden there was a loud noise, and boxes falling. “Yunho is here?!” A medium tone voice exclaimed alarmed.
“Hey, JJ!” Yunho said letting go of the Max’s hand. “Long time no see!” He added with a smile, while Jaejoong appeared, trying to fix his hair and clothes nervously.
BoA noticed how Max’s eyes reflected disappointment as Yunho hugged the other man in front of him.
“Yunho! Yuhno!” She said pulling on his arm, and separating them. “Let’s find Max some clothes, ok?” She didn’t know why, but something inside her made her want to protect Max, and evade threats to him or Yunho.
Yunho turned to look at her and nodded smiling. “Come on Max,” he said as he held his hand out so Max could take it. “Let’s find you some clothes.”
Max nodded and gave Yunho that smile that he liked so much. “Ok,” he whispered as he took Yunho’s offered hand with a tight grip.

“What’s this?” Kai asked pointing to something on the kitchen counter. “It looks evil.”
Chanyeol rolled his eyes. He usually had a lot of patience and tolerance, but Kai surely knew how to push him to his limits. “A blender, Kai!” He answered annoyed. “It’s a fucking blender! Stop asking questions and locate Changmin!”
Kai stuck out his tongue and ignored him. He approached the blender and dared to press one of the buttons that it had.
The blender turned on, and after a high squeal and a jump from Kai, the blender ended in nothing but tiny pieces.
Some part of Chanyeol, wanted to smash Kai to the floor, but he knew better than that. Kyuhyun was not going to be happy about this at all. First, was the playstation 3, then the gigantic flat TV in the living room, now the blender…what was next?!
“Did you seriously have to do that?” The older teen asked annoyed. “It was just a blender!”
Kai looked perplex as he got his vectors back. “It was going to attack me! It rawred!” He defended himself.
“Was not!” Chanyeol huffed. “It was just a blender! It’s for making food!”
“How was I supposed to know that?” Kai asked, feeling embarrassed and offended at the same time.
“You ask, you moron!” Chanyeol spat back.
The two teens kept on bickering until the front door opened and footsteps were heard coming down the hall.
Both diclonius froze but for different reasons. Kai got into attack mode and Chanyeol wanted to kick himself for forgetting mentioning something really important.
Chanyeol widened his eyes as he felt Kai’s vectors come out. “Kai, wait!” The older yelled as a person walked into the kitchen. “No!”
That person, who happened to be a boy, screamed as he hit the floor with a heavy body on top of his. “Get the hell off of me!”
Chanyeol had no choice but to use his vectors, stopping Kai’s midway to their goal, which was the head of the boy under him. “He’s Kyu hyung’s cousin!”
Kai immediately retracted his vectors as his chocolate brown eyes went to their normal state. “Oh,” he said nonchalantly, as if it wasn’t a big deal. “My bad.”
“Your bad?! YOUR BAD?!” the boy trapped under Chanyeol became vivid. “You almost sliced my head off and all you have to fucking say is: ‘oh, my bad’?!”
Kai looked at the annoyingly loud human and froze in his spot. This human was the most gorgeous thing he had even laid his eyes on. There was defiance and passion in his eyes and he felt attracted instantly.
“Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?” Kai asked raising his voice, as he watched the boy push Chanyeol off and get up, cursing in the process.
“Another stupid diclonius?” The boy responded sarcastically.
That caught Kai off guard. He looked at the boy with wide eyes. “H-How do you know?”
The boy rolled his eyes. “Well, you’re wearing a low V cut shirt and I totally can see those,” he responded pointing at the scales in Kai’s collarbones. “Yours are black, and Chanyeol’s are yellow. The colors represent your intensity level. My cousin studies your kind, so yeah. I know.”
Kai frowned at the response. “But, aren’t you afraid of me?” He asked cautiously.
“Should I?” The boy asked back, blinking a few times. “I see no reason to be.”
Kai opened his mouth to say something, anything, but he closed it after a few seconds. He realized that he had no response to that, so he just stayed silent. He looked at the boy again and smiled. Kai let out his vectors and touched the boy’s chest lightly with them.
Chanyeol gasped to himself: Kai had just imprinted.
The other boy felt a slight push in his chest and turned to look at both diclonius. They stared at each other for a few minutes until he decided to break the silence. “Chanyeol, what the hell are you doing here anyways? Aren’t you supposed to be at wherever Kyu hyung is?”
Kai kept on staring at the boy and Chanyeol nudged him in the ribs. “Top secret and classified, which means we can’t tell you and it’s super important,” the tall teen said crossing his arms across his chest. “Right, Kai?”
“Huh?” The teen said blinking for a second, and staring again at the beautiful stranger in front of him with a smile on his face.
Chanyeol hit himself on the head repeatedly. Bringing Kai was a huge mistake and Kyuhyun’s cousin: Sehun, wasn’t going to make it any better.
