Catch Me - 5 (HoMin, SeKai)

“He what?” Sehun asked, not fully getting was his cousin was talking about. “Imprint you say? And what the fuck is that? It sounds like some Twilight shit,” he scoffed.

“Yes imprinted,” Kyuhyun answered from the other line. He had wanted to talk to Sehun personally, but he had things to do at the facilities. The twins were far from happy now that not only Changmin, but Kai were on the loose and he was the one suffering from it. They had left him in charge of other diclonius in the facilities, making sure no other would escape. “That means that he has chosen you as his life time partner. From now on his priority in life it’s gonna be you, your safety and happiness.”

“That isn’t so bad. Everybody’s priority should be my happiness,” Sehun laughed. “But I guess there is more into that, from the way I can hear you freaking out.”

“Stop being such a brat, Sehun. Remember you live under my roof and I can kick you out if I want to,” Kyuhyun replied. Maybe deep inside, he was kind of proud that his cousin was following his own steps. Kyuhyun had always been a brat, even now that he worked under the twins commands, he managed to do whatever he wanted. “This is serious shit, and even if I hate to admit it myself. I wouldn’t want anything bad happening to you.”

Sehun smiled. Kyuhyun was the only close family he had and he felt the same way towards the older one. “I know…so care to explain in detail?” he inquired. “And, explain it with apples and pears, remember that even though I’m so awesome, I’m still just a simply high school student.”

Kyuhyun laughed, but immediately got serious. “Well, expect him to be a little protective of you, so that can be dangerous for other humans because he will make sure to get rid of any kind of threat. And yes I’m talking about jealousy. He won’t be able to stay away from you for long periods or it will cause him physical pain somehow. We don’t really know much about the subject since diclonius are rare and mysterious species, but we do know that there is a process to it and he’s gonna do whatever it takes to complete it or he could die,” he paused, as if trying to find the right words to continue.

“And how is that? What does he have to do to complete the process? What would happen if the completes the process?” Sehun asked, starting to feel at edge. There was something in Kyuhyun’s voice and now silence that made him shiver.

“Intercourse. You two have to have intercourse in order for the process to be completed,” Kyuhyun spoke. “Studies have showen that they can’t force their chosen one, but still we’re not sure. So…”

Sehun bit his lips. He knew exactly why his cousin was so worried about him. But somehow, he didn’t feel threaten by Kai. He knew that no matter what Kai wouldn’t hurt him in any way. After all, his priority was his integrity, right? “And, let’s say the process gets completed. What then?”

“Then you belong to him and he belongs to you. He will be able to feel and communicate with you as he does with other diclonius,” Kyuhyun responded. He took a deep breath. “Look, Sehun. I love you and you are very dear to me. I wouldn’t forgive myself if anything happens to you. Your mom told me to look after you before…you know….so I can’t disappoint her.” Kyuhyun cleared his throat and continued. “I can…if you want to…I can…take some measures to at least try to eliminate him.”

At those words, Sehun felt his chest tighten. Yes he was afraid after hearing everything that his cousin had told him, but the thought of Kai being killed pained him to no end for some strange reason. The boy was nothing but nice to him, and even though it was annoying at times, it was endearing.

“Don’t,” Sehun found himself saying with a cold tone. “Don’t even think about it Kyu hyung.”

“But, Sehun-“

“Do it for me, ok? I think I might like him a little,” Sehun confessed.

“This is not a high school love. We’re talking about a life time commitment Sehun.”

“I know, hyung. I know,” Sehun responded, starting to feel annoyed at Kyuhyun’s words. “I gotta go ok? Talk to you later.” he added.

Kyuhyun sighed. He knew both of them needed to process the information, and talk later or they wouldn’t agree on any matter. “Oh, yes. You will call me tomorrow.”

Sehun hummed as an affirmation, and both hung up. He stood up from his bed and decided to go downstairs to the living room where Chanyeol and Kai surely were.

Ever since Kyuhyun had given them money to buy another TV and a PS3, (not without flipping tables and screaming bloody murder at Kai for destroying his devices and imprinting on his dear cousin) Chanyeol had showed Kai how amazing a TV could be, which ending in both watching said device literally all day long.

The young boy grabbed the remote control from the coffee table and turned off the TV, gaining the attention of the 2 upset diclonius…along with a glare.

“So,” Sehun said as he took a seat in between them. “If I’m gonna go through with this shit, at least I have the right to clear things up and set some rules,” he declared in a clear voice.

Both, Kai and Chanyeol blinked a few times.

“Um…what exactly are you talking about?” Chanyeol asked, raising an eyebrow. And they said diclonius were the crazy ones…

“This whole imprint process of course! What else!” Sehun responded rolling his eyes.

“Oh.” Chanyeol said dumbly.

“Oh,” Kai whispered focusing his attention solely on Sehun. “So, what do you want to know or say?”

“Should I go upstairs to leave you two alone?” Chanyeol asked already getting off the couch. He saw Sehun shake his head and smile at him, so he stayed. “Ok.”

“I know you are diclonius. You are similar to humans, but very different at the same time. You are like…another kind of species,” Sehun stated trying to leave the word ‘mutant’ out of his vocabulary for now. “You have colorful scales in your collarbones and they are very sensitive. Also, you have these things called ‘vectors’ that are very dangerous…but what are they exactly?”

Kai shook his head vigorously. “Vectors are not dangerous,” he said. Sehun gave him a raised eyebrow and he sighed. “They are not always dangerous, ok?” He declared. “Think of it as if you had more than two arms, very long and strong arms that can do whatever normal ones do. But, besides that, they can be strong enough to crush steel or sharp enough to cut it,” he explained.

Chanyeol nodded. “They’re part of us, and they come out from our back whenever we want it.”

Sehun bit his lip. “So, it’s like you have to control them? How do they feel like?” This was getting really interesting, and he just wanted to learn about what most humans would fear.

“Yes and no,” Chanyeol responded. “We have to control them, but just as much as you control your hands or legs. It’s really not much different from that.”

“As our scales come in different colors. So do our vectors,” Kai tried to explain, “I mean…I have black scales, and I have 4 vectors that are approximately 23 meters long. While, Chanyeol has yellow scales and he has 4 vectors that are more likely 27 meters long.”

Sehun titled his head. “So your vectors can vary?”

Chanyeol nodded. “Yes. I’ve seen diclonius with 6 or even 10 vectors at the facilities of the Steel Corporation. Think of it as how you humans have different color of hair, or eyes. It’s just exactly like that.”

Sehun nodded in understanding, as he opened his mouth in a ‘o’. “And what about your scales? What are they for?”

Kai smirked. “They’re just there for sexual enhancement.”

Sehun coughed, managing to choke with his own saliva.

Yunho swore he was going to be broke sometime soon. He liked to pamper Max as much as he could. It was like he would likely to go out and buy him food. The problem was the growing appetite of the young man.

Sometimes Yunho wondered how someone so thin could manage to eat everything!

After promising himself that tomorrow was going to be the day when he started painting again, even if it was just for necessity and not for inspiration, Yunho watched with a smile how happily Max was eating his fresh crepe with strawberry and whipped cream filling.

“So, what do you like to eat the most?” Yunho asked intrigued.

Max looked up from his crepe and frowned. “Mmmm,” he said deep in thought. “Everything,” he responded after some seconds of inner debate, trying to remember all the delicious food he had tasted.

Yunho laughed as he watched how Max finished his crepe in no time. He had to admit that Max resembled a little bit of a pig when he ate. The young man was always careless of manners, but then Max looked like the cutest version of a pig in Yunho’s eyes.

After a few minutes of watching the sky, sitting on a bench in the park as Max kept on asking about the things he had learnt in the day, Yunho remembered that there was something that surely Max would love!

“Oh! You’ve never tasted snacks right?” Yunho asked excitedly.

“No,” Max responded, shaking his head. There was so much in the world that he hadn’t tasted yet! It was heartbreaking, honestly.

Yunho grinned. “There is a store like two blocks away. We should get you some…maybe a bag of saewookkang!”

“My feet,” Max replied with a sad face, “I’m tired.”

Well, who wouldn’t be? Yunho had woken up with a lot of energy after he managed to sleep all night long, and had taken Max for a walk around town. It was really wasn’t a joke when Yunho said walk, because it had been long as hell!

“Oh.” Yunho frowned.

He bit his inner cheek and sighed.

“Maybe later?” Max suggested, hating how disappointed and somehow guilty Yunho looked at the moment. He really wanted to keep on eating, but his feet were killing him. “Yes?”

“Maybe I can go and get you some and you stay here? It’s not really far, I’ll be back in no time,” Yunho suggested after a few seconds. Sometimes he could be one stubborn bastard.

Max nodded. At first, he didn’t like whenever Yunho was away, but after being getting out of the house more and more, they started to feel less stressed and scared of the outside. Besides, all he had to do was wait. It wasn’t really a hard task.

“I’ll be right back!” Yunho exclaimed as he started running away.

Max watched him disappear around the corner, and sighed. He turned to all directions, and sometimes he enjoyed watching how all the people around him acted. That way he could ask what the meaning behind every simple gesture was. Just like that time when he kissed Yunho.

He smiled at the thought and blushed a little, remembering how safe and warm he had felt then.

Max watched some little boys playing with a ball nearby, and smiled. It looked really fun. He turned to look at his left and saw a boy and a girl holding hands shyly. He wondered briefly why they looked so red in the face. He turned to his right, and it was then when he felt it.

It was something familiar, but at the same time very different. It was not ok. Something was wrong, and he suddenly felt threatened. Max grabbed his head as he felt a great pain rising through his body and into his head. He stood up after some seconds and ran away, letting his instincts and feet led him.

Kai was bickering with Chanyeol about how Chanyeol should give him money so he could buy Sehun that thing called bubble tea that he seemed to love. Sehun rolled his eyes and decided to get away from the fighting teen diclonius for a few minutes.

“I’m gonna be by the swings, ok?” Sehun said loudly, but it seemed that the others where way into arguing now. It was about who was better and stronger…again. He rolled his eyes and walked away with a scoff.

As much as Sehun hated to admit it, he didn’t like when Kai’s attention was solely on Chanyeol and not him. Yes, he was an attention whore, so what?

Sehun looked up at the empty street and kept on walking. He was starting to feel anxious for some strange reason. He looked back and no one was there. He had walked really fast, and probably Chanyeol and Kai were still too into each other to notice him gone. He looked ahead and froze in his spot.

“Look what we got here.” A dark voice said.

Sehun gulped. The tall man right in front of him smirked and suddenly he felt his chest being oppressed.

“Who are you?” The tall man demanded to know with a cold voice. “What are you?” he added.

Sehun felt something around his neck as he was being raised up, his feet leaving the ground. The guy was standing in front of him, and it was when Sehun noticed them…the red scales on the man’s collarbones, peeking through the gray scarf he was wearing. Everything made sense now. He was going to die.

“K-Kai,” was the last thing he said before everything went black.

Chanyeol was about to hit Kai on the head for being suck a dick when both felt it.

Changmin.

“Fuck!” Kai exclaimed as he ran as fast as he could.

Chanyeol ran right behind him. Kai could obviously feel something Chanyeol couldn’t because he kept on repeating Changmin and Sehun’s name over and over along with some ‘no, no, no’.

Kai pulled out his vectors and launched himself towards Changmin, as he finally saw him holding Sehun by the neck with one of his vectors. “Leave him alone!” He yelled in a mixture of a plea and a command. “Chanyeol, help me with Sehun!”

Changmin turned around and threw Sehun in the air as his vectors stopped Kai’s. He easily made his way through Kai’s vectors, holding them in a deathly grip as he walked towards the teen.

Kai was having a hard time trying to let go of Changmin’s vectors.

20 meters. If he was really going to fight against Changmin, then he needed to stay 20 meters away from Changmin.

Chanyeol managed to catch Sehun before he fell to the ground with his vectors. He turned and watched in horror as Changmin approached Kai.

Changmin stopped walking as he stood face to face with Kai. Merely a meter separated them, and there was nothing but silence and heaviness arounded them. He smirked and punched Kai in the stomach.

Kai grabbed his stomach and moaned in pain.

“That is for attacking me,” Changmin explained. “And this is because I’m happy to see you out, Jongin,” he added as he helped the boy to get up and hugged him.

Kai smiled and hugged the older back. “Hyung,” he whispered.

They broke the hug and Kai raised an eyebrow. “Well, you did try to kill my future mate,” he said. “I missed you and all that, but I wasn’t going to let that happen. It was only fair for me to attack you.”

Changmin smirked. “Aww, so little Jongin is all grown up and now has imprinted?” He mocked.

Kai blushed slightly and Changmin rolled his eyes.

“Well, yeah. Sorry for almost killing your future mate. I almost slice his head off, good thing you came right in time though,” Changmin commented as he looked over at Chanyeol, who was frozen in his place, this time holding Sehun in his arms.

“I know.”

“It was your fault though,” Changmin stated. Kai looked at him with confusion, so he proceeded. “If you would have already completed the process, my instincts wouldn’t have thought of him as a menace, they would have linked him to you,” he explained.

Kai scratched his head. “Well, yeah. I’m still working on that.”

“So, did they let you out or you escaped?” Changmin asked, as both started to walk towards Chanyeol and Sehun.

“They let me out so I could find you,” Kai explained. “They want you back.”

“You know I won’t let that happen, right?” Changmin asked.

Kai nodded. “Yeah, I-“

“Max! Max!” A voice was heard.

Changmin grabbed his head. He had heard that voice before, but he didn’t know where.

“Max, where are you? Please respond! Please be ok!” The voice said once again, it sounded full of concern and desperation.

Changmin supported himself on Kai’s shoulder and started to feel as if the world was starting to spin as the voice became louder and clearer. “I don’t feel well,” he mumbled.

Kai was about to say something when he saw Changmin pass out. He grabbed him by the waist, preventing him from hitting the ground. “Hyung! Hyung!” Kai exclaimed, after he put Changmin on the ground, trying to wake the diclonius up.

Chanyeol turned to look at him with a shocked expression. What the hell had just happened? Why on earth had Changmin passed out like that?

Both diclonius could hear that the person looking so desperately for this Max guy. He was coming really close to them.

“We need to get him back to the facilities,” Chanyeol said, biting his lower lip. This was too easy and it was scaring him. “Hurry Kai!”

Kai felt it again, that presence that was Changmin’s but at the same it wasn’t. Almost…almost as the one he felt embrace him the first time.

Max.

Suddenly Kai understood everything. How he hadn’t seen it before?!

“I’m so sorry, hyung,” he whispered. “Please forgive me for this,” Kai said as he turned to see the figure of a tall man running towards them.

“Yunho,” Changmin whispered still in deep slumber.

****

A few hours passed since the incident, and Chanyeol groaned finally waking up. His head hurt like hell, it was as if he had been hit by tons of bricks repeatedly.

“He’s waking up,” Chanyeol heard followed by some whispers.

“What happened?” He moaned, trying to get up with ice on his head.

Chanyeol looked around and saw himself on the bed of his room back at Kyuhyun’s house.  Kai and Sehun were looking at him expectantly.

Then it all came to him. They had finally found Changmin! The diclonius had fainted, and they were ready to take him back when suddenly everything went black.

“Where is Changmin?” Chanyeol asked in a serious tone. “Please tell me you captured him.”

Sehun turned to look at Kai, who was took a deep breath. “Could you leave us alone, Sehun? Please?”

The young teenager pouted but he nodded after a few seconds. He really wanted to stay and hear everything out.

Once Sehun was out of the room, Kai took a seat on Chanyeol’s bed. “We didn’t capture him. He escaped, and I kinda hit you.” He said scratching his head.

“What?!” Chanyeol exclaimed. “You hit me in the head and let him escape?!” His vectors were out already but immediately Kai’s held them in place with a tight grip.

“I want you to hear me out first,” Kai said, this time with a serious face. “Then we’ll see what happens. But I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” he added, referring to Chanyeol’s vectors trying to get rid of Kai’s. “Calm down!”

“How do you want me to calm down when you hit me!” Chanyeol countered. He had trusted Kai, and it wasn’t fair. He felt betrayed and hurt.

“Changmin told you, didn’t he?” Kai whispered.

Chanyeol’s vectors immediately stopped moving and his whole body froze.

“He told you everything. He told you about him, and that’s why you let him escape,” Kai stated.

Chanyeol looked at Kai, locking his eyes before nodding slowly. “He didn’t tell me everything. I still don’t know how you know him and why it looks like he actually cares for you. But he told me about him, about the person he wanted to find,” he explained. “He’s not a monster. I know he’s not and he deserves to have a normal life, just like all of us do. That’s why I did it.”

“Then, hear me out. I’ll tell you what happened with Changmin,” Kai insisted. “After that you can call Kyu hyung and tell him whatever you want, I promise.”

Chanyeol thought about it for a second. He knew Kai was always going to be on Changmin’s side and that the promise was a lie, but he was feeling curious about it. And Kai better give him a damn good explanation or he wouldn’t trust the young diclonius anymore.

*

Kai managed to drag unconscious Chanyeol and a shocked Sehun behind a few trees. He wanted to see if his suspicions were right. He was going to see what this human was going to do with his hyung, and if it was bad he was ready to attack.

As he held Sehun tightly, he watched as the human sank onto his knees, and cradled Changmin’s head.

“Max,” he whispered while shaking him gently. “Wake up! Please, wake up, Max!”

Kai watched as some droplets of water fell from the humans’ eyes. ‘Why is he crying? What is he doing?’ Kai thought.

It didn’t take long before Changmin started moving around slightly. He sat up, looking confused and holding his head. He looked up to the other man and let out a small smile.

“Yunho,” he whispered before frowning and wiping at Yunho’s eyes. “Eyes wet.”

Kai looked puzzled. “What is Changmin doing? Why is he behaving like this with this human?” he mumbled to himself.

The human smiled and wiped his eyes. “Nothing Max. Nothing at all. I’m just glad that you woke up,” he said sitting on his knees. “Are you ok?” He asked helping the young man sit up with eyes full of concern.

“I think so,” Changmin said rubbing his head. “Head hurts.”

The man called Yunho jumped up, and helped Changmin stable himself on his feet. “Let’s get you home.”

“Where is saewookkang?” Changmin asked smiling hopefully. “Hungry,” he declared.

Yunho snorted. “I think I might have thrown the bag somewhere. But let’s buy you some more, ok?”

Changmin beamed, eyes going mismatched and showing his teeth.

Kai’s eyes widened at that. “He’s happy,” he declared. “He’s smiling because he is happy.”

“He looks like he’s falling in love,” a voice said softly. “You can see it in his eyes.”

Kai looked to his left and saw Sehun rubbing his head slightly as he watched the men before them.

“Love?” The teen diclonius asked. “But, he hasn’t imprinted on this man. I can feel it.”

“Well, let’s say he’s just falling in love naturally,” the younger teen explained, looking very satisfied with himself.

Kai blinked a few times and looked back to see the human Yunho pick up Changmin or Max bridal style before walking away.

“Falling in love naturally. He’s happy,” Kai whispered and let out a smile. “I want him to be this happy. He deserves it.”

‘Good luck, hyung.’
