Summer Loving

Aug 13, 2009 20:20

It's almost the middle of August & I'm finally getting to enjoy a bit of what Toronto SHOULD be like in the summer (warm instead of all the rain & cold weather we've had). It's kind of bitter sweet.

Things I am loving today:

+The garbage/city strike is finally over so it means that the public pools are open again. I spent the later part of the ( Read more... )

Enjoy a glass of wine for me! That's what I miss most right now, having a nice, cold alcoholic beverage on a hot summer evening!

I think I'd miss that too if I was pregnant. That and being able to eat sushi. I'm not sure which one I'd miss more!!

Let me know what you think of PA.
If you haven't read 'Slave' by Mende Nazer, I recommend that highly. It's obviously on a totally different note, but I think it's a critical read for anyone.

So far I'm enjoying PA. I didn't really have high expectations about the book, except that it would be a good light read---which it is. I spent yesterday afternoon reading it pool-side. Lately I've kind of been on a kick of reading books written by bloggers. I think this is the 4th one I've read this year & PA is definitely better written than some. I'll let you know what the final verdict is once I finish it!

Slave sounds like a really good but sad read. I'm adding it to my reading list! I read the book "Push" by Sapphire this winter and it was one of those kinds of books. Heartbreaking and kind of hard to stomach at times but amazing.

I really want to read her book: http://www.staceyannchin.com/

If I could recommend any book it would be "The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao" by Junot Diaz. Probably my favorite book I have read all year, and a new all time favorite book!

I love talking books &hearts
