My life drawing class

oooye I went to drawing class and we had life drawing. It didn't help that I have a back from Hell and it was acting up. Seems after the flu the last place it settles is in my back and I hate that I have to be soo careful. So I am standing there thinking arg how do I do this from the end of my pencil? Huh, I haven't heard of that method of holding a pencil. I guess it's a useful brush-holding exercise but I can't see it being a control improvement for pencil work.

It's a formal way of holding the pencil, from the back end and it helps you learn to balance and wield your brushes with strength. It's the old formal drawing techniques of the masters but it only gets you started and stay fresh. You use your shoulder when drawing and it really does work. You then go in and start to work on the details and hold the pencil a bit tighter, but you have a nice fresh understructure. I see a lot of um , too tight drawings that lost their energy if you can sort of understand what I mean.
