I am absolutely livid right now, thinking about last night and a conversation that I'm anticipating soon.

What are you supposed to do when your friends are racist when they're drunk? And what do you do when they begin belittling you?

I almost cried myself to sleep last night in a bed that wasn't mine.

Wow. I'm really sorry. Since coming here to Japan I finally know what it's like to be in the minority, and though it's only been a few short weeks, it's opened my eyes quite a bit. I didn't normally think about race, but here I'm always being pointed at or stared at or something like that, and there were a few times out shopping that I felt really uncomfortable because I'm not Japanese. We all kinda laugh and call ourselves "stupid gaijin" because it makes it a lot easier (gaijin is the Japanese word for foreigner).

Monica, you are a beautiful person inside and out and I'm saying that not because I think you don't know it but because it's true and reading this reminds me of how much I admire you. I don't know what was said last night and if he tried to make you feel ashamed of anything, but you aren't and I'm glad. He should be ashamed, not anyone else.

I hope I'm not out of line saying any of this - I mean all of it in the best way, and I'm so sorry people are so stupid and this happened.

You're right, it's not funny, and it sucks to be the only one in the room who thinks so. This is a bit off topic, but when I hear someone say something really predjudiced, ignorant or blaming, I wish I had a troop of Ears to rake them over the coals about it.

Also, your skin is not like shit at all.
