That was surprisingly decent of Sherlock to not only warn John ahead of time but to make sure he didn't enter either line of fire.

Too bad Sherlock only engaged his brain *after* stinking up the flat. ;-) At least the recovery seems well thought-out!

Indeed. Geniuses aren't always smart, if you know what I mean. Pretty sure there will be apology-by-tiramisu, as garderhill wisely suggested. :-)
