I kind of understand the social anxiety thing.

I have a very dear friend with a very serious social phobia to the point where talking with strangers is an impossibility for her. I don't think it is something which many people are capable of understanding, but it is an illness as real as any other, psychological or otherwise.

Perhaps it's best that you're occasionally forced into these uncomfortable situations though, just to know that you can push your own boundaries when you're not faced with any alternative.

Thank you for this, Mr.Troll (have you ever disclosed your real name?). It is as real as real gets, but yes, it was a little reassuring when I got through a couple of phonecalls right without sounding like a completely inexperienced idiot. Although that WAS when I was ordering more shrinkwrap and not when I had to find out something really important. I can't see myself being in the position of boss again (as my boss has had loads of leave already), but yeah, this week has provided some interesting analysis of and for myself.
