My lovely weekend of night shifts culminated in my car breaking down when driving home. All was fine until I went to drop from 5th to 4th and the gearstick went as limp as Pele's dick. I pull over as best I could and tried to avoid the pissed off faces of motorists forced to work their way around me. Cold, tired, waiting for the AA, standing

i have similar feelings about the mechanic...i understand the awkwardness you are talking about almost perfectly. i would say, though, that they have nothing against you, dearie....these people probably sit in that office day after day and have to listen to people complain about their luck/prices/impact on their lives/ what went wrong/ their brother is a mechanic/ etc etc etc and simply are sick of it.

hope your repairs are quick and cheap. [patpat] cars that break down are equal on the upset-me-a-lot scale to computers that break down.
