As much as that tell myself that I don't care what people think of me, it's like i'm constantly looking to impress people. Especially people from high school and middle school. You know from back when I was a preteen geek. The problem is i'm still a preteen geek, only now i'm twenty-one

You are brutally honest with your self and that is more than Ican say for most. As long as you stay true to yourself, I don’t think it matters what you let the world think. This is what you learn working in an office job... you learn to wear this mask to reach your goal. Be careful with people you hide from because could be losing out on some awesome relationships/ experiences by not letting them in. Indecisiveness is a part of being young and it is probably the reason you don’t go for anything... don’t know what’s and are afraid of failing at choosing wisely. To this I say jump with the intent of falling. Experience it all while you still can.
