One thing to keep in mind (which we didn't) is whether your diaper bag will fit in the basket under your stroller. Our bigger bag fits under our bigger stroller, but only fits under the smaller stroller if it's not full and can be squished down to fit. :/ If you don't want to carry a fully stocked diaper bag all the time, maybe you can get away with keeping extra supplies in your car(s). Stuff like an extra blanket, change of clothes for the baby, extra shirts for you and Ian, of course spare diapers and wipes, and empty plastic bags for messy diaper disposal or for holding messy clothes until you can get them home to wash.
Your diaper bag may have come with a nice padded changing pad, but those are a little bulky. 3 or 4 disposable "puppy pads"/incontinence pads can fold up and be carried with less bulk.
If you have the type of bag that can be attached to the stroller's handles, make sure it doesn't weigh so much it can tip the stroller. (Yes, we've done that!)
We found a REALLY great Diaper All in One Bag in Plain Black water resistant kind of material which you can store a changing mat, bottles and stuff , for a friend who was clearl overjoyed!
