The nearly $1tril of money going all over the place, not to anything reasonable as solutions go, people like ACORN and other folks who need that money less than, say ... well, almost anyone else, increasing socialization of businesses ...
Yeah, I'm primarily a civil-libertarian. I still don't trust Obama on FISA and other privacy issues. But when it comes to public infrastructure and education, I think the government should have a large role.
A lot of the investments make sense to me. Not all of them obviously, but the basic ideas. For example, funding scientific research. How many technological revolutions from the US were created because of federal funding?
The tone of this post is pretty divisive, with the "douchebags" tag and all. It wasn't meant to be an attack on any readers here, but reading it now, I see that it was.
This vote was a show of force by the Republican party, an attempt to show President Obama that now he needs to play their game. And they failed.
The only problem with this is that I don't want things to be like when Bush was first in office and the Republicans voted in anything he wanted; I don't want 1 party ruling everything.
Being unemployed for 3 years makes it very hard for me to pay attention to anything in the media these days, much less trust anyone but I do know this, if all the Republicans and 10 Dems are against it, there must be something good in it!
It seems like there is a lot of crying going on right now from the upper middle class that is wholly fear-based. Everybody wants the good life but nobody wants to pay for it. That's just it, isn't it? We can't feed the homeless because I need a triple mocha frappe every day this week! I'm not trying to be facetious, but your douchebags comment was dead on. You don't have to take that back.
