although Wong Kar Wai is a talented and innovative director, his parallel stories that don't touch, take getting used to.

currently,my favorites are Max Ophüls and Michel Deville. Ophüls's beauty is in the simplicity of his films.the well told stories that devulge hidden areas of the human heart.

you all forgot to credit chris D.chris makes wong's movies incredible.they wouldn't have the same impact if chis didn't shot them in such creative's way.and i'm sure you've heard the comparison's between wong and jean-luc godard...whom i think was a talented director of his time.but as for wong, the fact that his stories are parallel and don't interact but still have something tot ie them..bind them, and the constant repetition adds to the beauty that is wong kar wai.

but my fav diractors are Takashi Miike and Yasujiro Ozu.Ozu's films make you pay attention to every detail...objects in the backround are often more important the actions in the foreground.he's one of the best experimentalist out there.

do you know the second cop's apartment in "Chunking Express" was Chris D's? absolutely agree with you on that one. godard is intersting and amazing.
