Little bit of good news, one bit of bad news...

Well, good news was the sushi was very good. I ordered a 12-piece nigiri-sushi plate, and it had tuna (of course), salmon, eel, shrimp, octopus, and a few others I didn't recognize. The ones I didn't recognize were red snapper (which I've had, but forgot that's what it looks like), some sort of clam with half red flesh and half white flesh (thought ( Read more... )

I'm so sorry about the poor little gerbil! How sad :(

I'm glad there's no ill feelings, though - some people just don't know how to handle them. And they're WAY quicker than most pet rodents.

Also - GAH!!!! The Catacombs!!!! I'm envious!!
And a little homesick, kinda sorta - I miss toronto!!!

Have fun :)

Thanks... Yeah, one of the problems with owning small animals and cats in the same household...

Regarding the location, looks like I was incorrect -- as it turns out, it was actually The Vatikan, rather than The Catacombs. (Apparantly The Catacombs was closed, but then re-opened as The Vatikan. My misunderstanding was that the evening was supposed to be called "Return to the Catacombs", playing a lot of older music, but that's not what happened.) This night out ended up being basically a bust; there really weren't that many people there, but the music was ok. Played a few industrial tracks, and then played a couple of requests. The owner of the place had a whippet running around, and we spoke to him for a couple minutes before we left, talking about rescuing dogs. So, the night ended on a high note, anyway, and not just because my little girl and I were in agreement that we needed to take the redhead home. ;-)

Yeah... Thanks, guys...

(And at the moment, we're stuck at the Lewiston-Queenston bridge... It's taken us about an hour to go about a kilometer... And we still have another few hundred meters to go...)

Thank you...

The kids did take it pretty hard, which was expected. We had a burial in the back yard behind the shed last night. (It's a large back yard, with the property line going back a couple hundred feet.)

They did get over it quickly, but they will occasionally remember that Kyo is gone. They both still make comments about missing either the greyhound which passed a couple years ago, or the hamster which passed last year.

The daughter indicated yesterday she wanted another Kyo, but we'll hold off on that for a while... We're not sure how well another gerbil from a different brood would interact with Yuki and Shigure... Maybe it's just best to stay at two... They're social animals, and two would be ok...
