Relationship status in Facebook: Due to scouts, I have a wide range of people on my facebook friends list. One of them is entering the priesthood, I take it. He is listed as Single. Though clearly this will never change, what would be a more appropriate setting? I don't know enough about Catholic ordination to answer that. Another friend on ( Read more... )

When a relationship status is something not obvious or, in such special cases as you mentioned, something you don't really want to think about...you can leave the field blank!

Kind of like how I always leave the "Looking For" field blank. No matter what I'm looking for, I'm not looking for it through Stalkbook...

Yeah...true. For some reason that never crossed my mind in the 2 or 3 months that that's been floating around in my mind. Strange.

I always pondered (or have been since FB) the whole fact that people are getting a bit anal about having it say what their status is or not on FB and if it doesn't say "in a relationship" then it's not official...I mean, I could be over-generalizing...I'm not the general populace.
But I know that it crossed my mind when I was questioning whether or not Scott and I were official in the beginning... since neither of us had changed our FB status, so my solution was to get rid of it, and he did the same.
And then I remembered the good old days when I just said "yeah I have a boyfriend" and that was how it was official...
I hate the internet sometimes.

Yeah, probably just another consequence of Social Networking sites. I guess another thing is the concept of "Friend" on Myspace, Facebook, or even this glorious site. (Isn't that deliciously self-referential, commenting on social networking sites on a social networking site?)

I'm sure that thought will cross my mind soon as well. Oh officialness....

LJ is different, though, it doesn't require a page of all your basics for people to glance at and look away, oh no, it wants ALL the juicy details of WHY.

I also have a friend going into the priesthood. He opted for its complicated, sighting that he isn't single-avialable, but God/Jesus Christ is not on facebook to be married to, ie, its complicated haha.
As for the widower... married is good until he is ready to date agian...?

and mentor convos are always the BEST, I miss them.

Haha. That's funny marking it's complicated. I guess that makes a lot of sense.

As for the widower, he is one of those exceptions to the rule where he'll be reaching retirement age in 3 years so I have the feeling he probably won't be dating.
