It’s just early November, but apparently it’s already “the most won-der-ful time of the year…”

And just what time of year could I mean? Certainly not Christmas! But perhaps I am mistaken? I mean, the cornucopia and crispy fall leaves on my office calendar tell me it’s only the second week of November, yet Wal-Mart has already been hocking Hannah ( Read more... )

Very good point, and a well-said rant!

(Minor typo: ...gussy up little Puritans to make sell decorations.
Not quite sure what you meant to say, but I think there's a word missing.)

Ugh, I know what you mean. It's as though "happy holidays!" is just an anagram for "profit margins!" in the big chains. Never mind the spirit of the event or emotional well-being of the community. Look, theme colors. $$$.

LOL! I like the way you said that..."emotional well being of the community." I think we all NEED that day to be thankful for things, even if it's the small things, you know?

Those are a few of the many reasons I avoid Wal-Mart with a vengeance. Of course, I'm lucky enough to live in a city with other options.

It's just so inexpensive. We have other grocery stores, but we generally save about $40 to shop at Wal-Mart! It isn't just them though - department stores are already getting the Christmas stuff out, and Santa usually debuts at the mall over Thanksgiving!

Well up here we actually have a couple of Canadian chains that, while not as large as Wal-Mart, has comparable pricing and one of my many reasons for avoiding Wal-Mart is because, quite frankly, I'd rather buy from a Canadian store. Of course, they've got the Christmas stuff up now, too. Argh!
