Ian, I need to give you some advice.
From mypast experiences, I think it's best if you and Monika didn't see each other for a while. I know it will be hard at first, but in the long run, it'll be best for the both of you. I understand that you still love her and have all these feelings for her, but give it some time. Build all those things up again, not just for her, but for you. If she wants to be just friends, talk to her occasionally. Just don't jump into it right away, thats one of the worst things you can do. Separate yourself from her to make her realize how much she misses you, and when she comes back, everything will be better than ever.
I honestly hope everything will work out for you two, you're amazing together, but give it time.
I don't want to see my Ian getting hurt, it's the last thing we need.
