Tried reading the first book and gave up. Found it to be derivative tripe. I was further incensed by the fact that it never seemed to have an end in sight. I really hate it when authors of fantasy can't just write a one-off book or at least keep their tales to less burdensome number of volumes. Of course we'll be lucky if G.R.R. Martin ever finishes his series. That fat fuck will probably die before we get satisfaction. I'm pissed at him because he's taking way too much time to finish his series. I can't imagine his publisher is very happy not to mention it's got to be hard to sustain fan base when you can only crank out one book in your series every 4 or 5 years!

But they continue to sell insanely well, so I bet his publisher is actually OK with it. Who publishes him, anyway? TOR? Let me look it up.... Oh, Spectra is reissuing his hardcover editions. My guess is that they're also taking on the hardcovers for his new titles in the series. I'm sure he's their best seller, no question. I think that he probably has a lot of power over his publisher and will be able to do just about whatever he wants.

I'd rather have him not put out a hurried product but I and also getting a little concerned that he might not live to complete it. His death is likely to have much less warning than RJ's, since dude will probably have a heart attack or something. I hope he's already got outlines and detailed notes for whoever might have to pick his work up.
