Went to protest; felt awkward. The protest was lame-maybe fifty people standing alongside University across from City Hall-but cute in its own way. On balance, I'm glad I went.

Looks like Mac-kun might be on his last legs. Good thing I bought the extended warranty.

I have tentatively decided to descend from on high to join the nationwide protest tomorrow-there will be a small, I'm sure, demonstration at the county courthouse here in Gainesville. The only question is what to wear?

I went to Brian's birthday party last night, getting mildly sloshed and making in-roads with the Sino-mafia here in town. It was fun, though I'm sure I bored one poor thing to death with my travails with Banana Republic's shirt-sizing. Oh well. (I also made another raid on the BR today, netting a $200 blazer for less than $40.)

My anachronistic tastes aside, there is very little that I normatively insist on, as I'm keen to live and let live. Amond the few I insist on are that loud music should cease after 10:00 a.m., and espresso should be served in actual glasses. Violating the first is impolite, but serving espresso in paper cups is just uncivilized.

I cleaned up the apartment a little today, organizing things (i.e., moving them out of sight) and doing dishes. I felt good with that, then went downtown to see the art festival (ugh) with a new friend (yay). He and I seem to get along fairly well, and I'm always keen on good company. I made my first noise complaint to the police tonight. I have moved beyond curmudgeon and am officially an old man.

Even if I like classic rock, and I do, there's no need for me to hear songs quite well inside my apartment from fifty feet away at 11:00 at night.

I'll be honest, I'm bummin' a little lately: I do feel a bit lonely, mostly in a romantic sense. The difference from years past is that I don't despair of my plight.
