The feel of crisp lettuce, just a bit wet
In my hands, the day after the rain brought the air
A certain cool freshness
A quiet moment, I hear the tearing
And the sound of seltzer bubbles rising to the surface
A good moment for the lord's prayer
A time to breathe; a time to slice eggs

Take a wind and sweep it through the old hall
Cause a fire to stir upon the hearth
Give the morning sunlight to the wall
Let dance linens all along the line
Bring the smell of flowers with the breeze;
Open up my heart to all that comes,
And strengthen me to seek out all my needs

I have not begun to mourn
For when I feel the wind
Then I shall feel your spirit;
All curled up in blankets
I shall feel your warmth
I begged my cold and broken heart for tears
My heart could not provide
Slowly I shall learn to cry again
To weep for love, and curse my barren pride

Fast Traveling
From the green valley
to the salt flatlands
this is the journey of a day
past the watchful stones
and silent birches
not slow enough to hear them say
Pilgrim rest your hands
on the silken bark
and listen to the mountain's speech
now the land all groans
for a humble heart
for a soul of stillness to teach.

Blessed are the leaves of the trees
That shade the man who walks the path of the lord
And blessed is the light which passes through leaves
And lightens the path of the lord
Wonderous is wind that stirs a righteous pilgrim
And carries his heart forward.
