[ohgojima] in sickness and in health

Silly, corny drabble is silly and corny, but I'm having Ohgojima withdrawals and needed something silly and corny.

in sickness and in health // ohgojima // fluff, corniness

“I heard someone’s sick with the flu.”

Her entire body seemed to blush (it’s just the cold, she’d say), and her immediate reaction was to pull her covers over her head and try to hide from the one person she hadn’t wanted to see today. “What are you doing here,” she finally said from her hiding place, voice muffled and full of embarrassment. “You should be out with everyone, and you might get a cold, and-”

“But my girlfriend is sick and feeling crummy, so right here is exactly where I should be.” When the bed dipped under the extra weight as he sat down on the edge of it she finally peaked out at him, tired eyes looking up at him shyly and closing tightly when he pressed a palm to her forehead. “Why didn’t you tell me you were sick? Why did you lie when I asked if you were okay? … d-did you not want me to bother you? I can leave if-”

“N-no!” Finally Suzuka sat up quickly and grabbed on to his shirt, fingers clutching tightly as she blushed deeply and looked down. “I just… I didn’t want to bother you or make you worry. You were looking forward to today and I ruined it…”

“Hey, don’t think like that.” Yuuto turned to her and leaned in to kiss one hot, sweaty cheek, rubbing it with his thumb as he frowned at her. “I want to know stuff like this, okay? I want to know when you don’t feel good, or when you’re sad or angry or upset. Even if it’s something stupid, like spilling your pudding at lunch-”

“I really like that pudding,” she mumbled, pouting when he smiled more.

“Even if it’s something silly and dumb, I want to know about it. Because I can’t make you smile if I don’t know what’s wrong.” She made a sound of protest but didn’t follow up on it when he lifted the covers to go under with her, pulling her into his body and hugging her tightly. “You don’t have to act perfect and be perfect for me to like you. You don’t have to hide your weak moments, just tell me about them, okay? Promise?”

She buried her head against his chest and sniffled (not from tears! From the flu!) feeling embarrassed and silly but maybe, just a little, warmed. “Okay. Sorry.”

He hugged her tighter and she squeaked, making him laugh as he pressed a kiss to her head. “Good. Now, I brought the corniest, girliest romance comedies, guaranteed by Shida to make you smile and me gag, and my mom’s guaranteed-to-work-pick-me-up sick meal, and I’m going to stay here until you feel better. I don’t want to hear any complaints! Got it?”

Laughing, she hugged him tightly and nodded, deciding that she felt a lot better already. “Un, got it.”

Halfway through the first movie and two bowls of soup later she tried to discreetly reach under the covers to pull the hidden, neatly wrapped gift out, pressing it against his chest and looking anywhere but his face when he looked at it in surprise. “Happy Birthday, Yuuto. I’m sorry you had to spend it with a sicky…”

Had she looked up she would have seen the soft smile, the kindest, most in love smile ever; disregarding the gift for now, he hugged and kissed her, ignoring her protest of spreading germs, and said, “Silly, this sicky is the only person I wanted to spend it with.”
