title Venus or Pancake or Cupcake the Corgi
pairing nakajima yuto x okamoto keito
genre/rating pg, fluff
notes for joie, who has created a whole domestic okajima universe with me. and for all the corgis out there *^*
1. When he comes home to a leash by the door, a bag of dog food in the kitchen, and his boyfriend of six months playing with a puppy on the living room floor, Keito freaks out. Just a little! Because a puppy is as close to a baby as they can get and babies mean commitment and sure, sharing an apartment is pretty committed but they’ve never actually talked about it, and-
“Keito! Welcome home, isn’t she cute?”
The dog wriggles, barks, and licks Yuuto’s cheek, and at the giggling Keito knows he’s doomed.
2. “What’s her name, anyway?”
“Penis!”
“… what.”
“Penis! You know, like the goddess of love~”
“…”
3. After two weeks Venus the corgi has accumulated at least five different nicknames from Yuuto. Keito puts up with it because there’s only so much yelling of Penus! that he can handle, but it does make training her incredibly difficult.
“Pancake! Pancake, roll over!”
The corgi looks at him and pants happily, even as Yuuto waves a treat in front of her face. Yuuto pouts and sits back. “Why isn’t it working! The book said it would work!”
Maybe because you were calling her Mami-chan five minutes ago Keito thinks to himself wryly; out loud he says, “Give her some time! She has to catch on to it. And you’ve barely taught her how to lie down!”
This doesn’t seem to please Yuuto, who goes back to consulting his book. After a couple of minutes of reading with his brows furrowed he turns to Keito, points at him, and says firmly, “Sit!”
“… excuse me.”
“Keito, sit!”
Keito debates over this in his head and briefly wonders why no one ever told him Yuuto was this weird when he told everyone they were moving in together. He decides to humor him in the end and sits on the couch.
“No no, on the floor!”
“What are you-”
“Just do it, okay! Now, lie down!”
“Yuuto…”
“Lie down!”
He sighs and complies, and doesn’t even bother questioning Yuuto when he commands him to roll over next. Meanwhile Pancake-or-Venus just watches them before flopping over onto her side, which apparently is enough of a roll over to make Yuuto exclaim happily.
“It worked! I thought she might learn from example, and look, she followed you!”
Instead of questioning Yuuto’s training skills Keito asks, “What about my reward?”
“Well I could give you one of these treats but I’m not sure they taste-”
Keito makes a laughing groan sound that’s a pretty common occurrence around Yuuto and pulls him down so he can shut him up.
4. Halfway through Titanic Yuuto falls asleep, taking up most of Keito’s shoulder. Cupcake-or-Pancake-or-Venus the corgi sprawls across their laps despite Keito’s numerous attempts to keep her off the couch. He’s given up by now and settles for petting her as he watches Rose and Jack get steamy in a car.
5. Nowadays Yuuto’s calls of ‘welcome home!’ can barely be heard over Pumpkin the corgi, who has been Pumpkin for a solid month.
It’s okay, though, because Yuuto’s gotten into the habit of trying to race Pumpkin to him, and really, life is pretty good when you have a cute boy tackling you at the door while a dog barks and jumps around them.
