Victory was nigh. He could hear it, whuffling in the grass, the creature that would bear the vital ingredient he required. Clutching his staff, the intrepid shaman waited for the perfect moment, tawny eyes glinting with confidence and excitement, letting his body fill with energy. Then, he released, blasting the creature out of cover with a fiery spell!

The blobbish thing landed a few feet away, stunned. The clever shaman, capitalizing on this opportunity, swiftly ran up to the creature, managing to get a few more hits in before it recovered, shrieking in fury. A complicated series of dodges, spells, and good-old-fashioned-whacking ensued, until finally, the blob was vanquished.

The shaman raised his staff high, casting one final spell, and the blob disappeared in favor of a brightly colored treasure chest. The gleeful shaman bounced over, tapping the box, and out sprang his prize…

“Mansae! I did it!” Yong Soo beamed, his seven tails dancing against the floor in an energetic beat. He pumped his fist, laughing. “The rice cakes are mine!”

Jubilant, the kumiho carefully guided his avatar back to town, watching the brightly colored landscape move across the screen with a distinct air of triumph. “Now I’ll finally be able to make the festival feast, and get that buff. Take that, da ze!”

He whistled happily, grinning to his curl. “If only I had managed to level up, too. Then it would’ve been flawless victory all the way.” He winked, and then returned his attention to the game. His ears flicked to catch the music, and he soon found himself humming along.

It was times like these he was grateful gaming originated in Korea. He had no idea how he had survived so many centuries without it. Really, what would the humans come up with next?

As his avatar began the chain of sequences that would produce the event-themed novelty item, Yong Soo quickly tabbed out of the game to check the forums, wondering with certain smugness whether or not his rival had managed to even come close to the level of excellence he had achieved.

Yong Soo was thus dismayed to find that the other fox-themed avatar had already made three feasts. The Korean gaped, pouted, and then grinned, chortling. “Okay, okay. Well met.” The kumiho curled one tail around an already open bottle of banana milk, bringing it to his mouth and taking an eager drink. Then he tabbed back to the game, a predatory gleam in his amber-ringed eyes as he set the drink down. “But let’s see who can win the arena challenge, da ze~”

Another tail reached out, pressed the button to the surround sound, and DBSK battle music filled the fox’s den. Outside, the park birds stopped pecking for seeds long enough to exchange bemused glances, wondering when exactly the ground had learnt to sing.

Hello! o/ I’m a big fan of Monster Mash, and of Korea, and I hope you enjoyed my little contribution. I'm a huge fan of the fanfic, and the verse it takes place in, and after I found the wiki just today, and the comm, I'm utterly in love and want to take part. With little Kumiho!Korea taking over my brain, I can guarantee that you will be hearing of me again, if you will have me. Much love!
