As I was coming out of the restaurant where I had lunch today, I was struck by a bicycle that was being ridden on the sidewalk, far too close to the doorway. I had no way of seeing him coming. He didn't stop, and when I yelled at him not to ride his bike on the sidewalk, he called back, "I don't have a license to ride it on the road

I am okay with people riding on the sidewalk if they do it slowly and respectfully and get out of the way of pedestrians - in short, as if they understand that they're not supposed to be on the sidewalk and don't get in anyone's way.

This guy was not only going fast, he was riding way too close to the buildings. Also, he was a jerk.
