^ Isn't that fucking gorgeous?? It's even more amazing in person. :)
Roy and I went on a day-hike yesterday near Mammoth Lakes. It was supposed to be a 21/2 day trip, but we were in the Sierras and the snow was getting too bad. Plus, we were unprepared for that much snow. We knew that there was going to be some snow, but not as much as we encountered. We only made it a few miles. The farther up the trail we went, the worse, deeper and icier the snow got. Soooo we made dinner and bailed. I feel defeated. I really wanted to go on this trip. Not only to test my gear for our two-week trip, but just to be out there. Oh well, next time we'll be prepared and bring ice axes and clip-on spikes (crampons) for our shoes.
10,000 feet! (MAN, did I feel it on the way up!)
See that snow-covered mountain in the distance behind me?? That's the pass that the trail led to! (In other words.. we were SUPPOSED to hike over that... ha...hahah.)
Roy happily flipping the camera off while cooking dinner. (You can't see the stove - it's behind the bush.)
We hiked up that mountainside in running shoes. Yeah, it took a while. Haha.
