100th post. I guess that means something special.
Anyhow, with apologies, here's that wishlisting thing (since I know some real-life people who don't get to talk to me much read this).
Wishlisting Meme.
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple ("I'd love a ______ icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
(Copy the part above if you want to pass on the meme.)
My wishes.
1. Anything in the mail, even just a postcard. I get bummed when I walk all the way out to the mailbox (since I live at the very back of the apartment complex, "all the way out" is actually a pretty valid statement) and find it to be empty.
2.
Donate to or buy something for Child's Play. I spent a little time in the hospital as a kid, and trust me, there is no question in my mind over whether this is a good/worthwhile cause or not.
3. Some paid time on my LJ account. I've only gotten to use all the bells and whistles for a very short while, and that was a long, long time ago.
4.
Burne Hogarth's Drawing Dynamic Hands.
5.
Cold, hard cash. Seriously. I'm a little short on it.
6. Pretty things to decorate with. Art prints or Roman stuff or just things to sit around and make this place look a little more hospitable.
7. Big, big, supersoft pillows -- the kind you can toss in a big pile and lay on.
8. A commission or two, or requests for prints of my work.
9. Music, books, or a movie. Surprise me!
10. Something, anything, you made. (Well, provided it won't make me sick go "Eeew!")

Um, that's about it. Done being selfish now. :)
