I have the dark, dark black (purple) irises =)
They were so beautiful, but now they are over. =(

The website [SpringHillNursery.com] lists them as black. I don't know if they're actually dark purple. I'm looking for information on how much light they need. I think they'd look amazing in my yard !!

From the street, my irises & tulips look black. When you get close up on them, they are really a dark, dark velvety purple. Too, soil effects the coloring and darkness, nutrients, acidity, nitrates, etc.

i have springhill's "black" queen of the night tulips. they look black from the street, [especially when mixed with white tulips], but up close they are like a very very dark reddish/purple-ish color. either way, they still look nice :)
