Greg was sitting in the dark of the room, and looked toward the door when it opened. "Surprised you didn't run away with her," he said with a calm, even voice void of any and all emotion.

James stopped in his tracks, jumping slightly at hearing Greg's voice; he didn't realise Greg was in the room.

Regrouping himself and trying not to let that guilt feeling in him take over, he quietly shut the door and shook his head. "Of course I didn't," James replied in a tired though indignant voice.

He didn't want to discuss anything until he'd washed his face and woken up a bit more, which was why he wasn't stopping to say anything more to Greg; he was making his way towards the bathroom.

Greg pulled himself to his feet. He made his way to the bathroom doorway without his cane. "Should have." He stood so that he could see james' reflection in the mirror, rather than look at James himself.

"Why's she here?" There was a slight edge to his voice, but also a calmness that might only be assiciated with Greg being medicated. If James looked up to his eyes, he would see the tell-tale glassy look.

James remembered, back in New York, Sophie telling James her secret. He promised her he'd never tell Greg or anyone else, and he intended on keeping that promise. Which was hypocritical, considering all the stupid things he'd done to hurt Greg and Sophie otherwise. He did, however, remember that it was Greg who noticed the gun in her purse when she came into the clinic, so he knew Greg knew that Sophie was someone who needed to be protected ( ... )
