I have good news, and I have bad news...

Good news is, the Bug's hearing is fine. Had her checked at the audiology clinic on campus today (best in town) and she's fine. Well within normal hearing, no current fluid behind her eardrums, although one is still just a bit sluggish while recuperating from fluid apparently. It's hard to believe she turns 5 tomorrow ( Read more... )

I hope your tooth ends up not being such a big deal as a root canal.

OH, idea: does the university where you are have a dental program? If they do.. they might have a way for you to serve as a practice patient for folks learning... at a discount.

I figure there might be some things you want a professional for, and this might be one of them. But schools that have programs for dental hygeniests for instance, often provide cleanings at a huge discount, so the students can practice with their teachers there to observe, etc.

just an idea.

I don't think my tooth needs a root canal now, but I want to get it fixed before it does. I've never had a cavity along the gum line before.

The school has pre-dentistry, pre-hygiene, but not real programs. I'm going to check with the student health and see if they have suggestions. Thanks for the idea.

Glad to hear that The Bug's hearing is alright. After what you went through with early ear infections, I worry about her (not that you don't as well.) I didn't realize how much damage they can do until you showed me with the ear problems you've gone through.

I'm also sorry to hear about the tooth. I should see a dentist as well. My teeth are a lot softer than yours, and Dr. Snare in Everett was the last dentist I visited.

I guess the question is how to pay for it since Blue Cross will pay somewhat for cleaning, etc. but not a whole lot. We should probably check into that again. At least it would help you. I agree, that you should get it checked - last thing you need is another abcess/root canal and crown!

At this point, if it came to that, I'd do an extraction rather than all the other stuff.

I got a flyer for a Mail Handlers supplemental benefit package that I'll look at anong with the Blue Cross 2005 guide. It might be worth it.

btw, do you have the 2005 guide? Do I need to get one for you?
