Why do toasters go up to such a high number that makes anything inedible?

The TV licencing people seem to think they're psychic. "You'll get a TV licence eventually" they say. Probably, but so fucking what? They'll die eventually. Does that mean I can kill them? Unfortunately no. To them, the notion that someone doesn't have a TV is completely impossible to comprehend. I have a small box with a screen on it, which I use

I can't believe we're still expected to pay these TV licences. They're to pay for something which many people don't even use.

Yeah, if I wanted BBC channels I wouldn't mind paying for them. But if my car's off the road, I don't pay car tax; so I don't see how this is any different...
