Time to brush my teeth...

Some people would say it's the stress of first semester sophomore year at Mudd.  Others would attribute it to being a teenager.  And still others would chock it up to merely being human.  But whatever the reasons (I'll go with a liberal combination of all three), I've been kind of depressed lately, and after exhausting all the methods I can think ( Read more... )

*snort* "chock it up" that makes it sound like you're throwing something up. heehee!

anyway, remember that test we made up to predict... who we would marry or something? and you got completely random points for really random things? yeah, i'll have to find that ;-) see ya in like 2 days!

i get 330. i should be able to solve that, though, but i really can't, so yay 20 more points for me!
(yes, i did just waste time taking that and adding it up, but you wasted time CREATING it, so it's all good, right?) :)

Angie - My fav part: where g(x) is the steady-state deflection of an elastic beam under a load with a Hookean restorative force.

YES (+5) / NO (+25) <-- No having the greater point value!

Anyway - see you around and hope that this break will bring you some more points! :)

Angst is angst..it just takes different forms. Mudd can be very hellish but it is also very sheltered and my experience outside has also taught me there are harder things in different ways. It is good to have time off and be doing other things because then you can come back and go "Oh. It's just a class. It's just solving a PDE. If I don't solve it, who the fuck cares? Why does it really matter?" Obviously you want to do your best, but it's not that big a deal in the grand scheme, I feel. That's prob. what I dislike the most about a place like Mudd: people have so little time and energy for meaningful things like you are discussing outside the bubble, and it creates selfishness instead of selflessness out of necessity, because you have to spend 95% of your energy on self-preservation and succeeding, so of course most people don't have much left to spend on how to save the world.
