When hard work and a can-do attitude just don't pay off...

This is my relationship with physics right now: I am like a dog... No, better yet, a puppy. I am one of those adorable little puppies that acts like its tongue is magnetically attracted to your face. My owner is physics, and like all puppies I love my owner unconditionally. I've learned how to do everything that my owner has tried to teach me: ( Read more... )

that's really sad... :(

but I know how you feel. only I probably have a bit more of the cat's attitude: he's my owner, of course he'll think I'm awesome even if I pee on the floor or don't come when I'm called. aw shit...

Haha! What I was trying to say (albeit strangely because I'm in a near-the-end-of-finals-daze mood) is that it's really discouraging when I repeatedly study for a physics midterm and go into to it knowing how to all of the homework and all of the recitation problems really well, and I still do well below average on the test. I know when I go into a test without having studied enough, but with physics I always feel like I've mastered all of the material that's been given to us, so there literally isn't anything else I could do to prepare, and it's really demotivating to feel like your best just isn't good enough.

I could rant about this for quite a while, but sleeping would probably be much more productive

hmmm.... where have i heard this metaphor before...? :)

hey, you'll pull through! you can't do anything more than your best, right? maybe try studying with the people who score well, see if they're doing something different that might work for you? i dunno. see you in a few days, and good luck!
