I'm not a Christian. I celebrate "Christmas" because everyone around me does so, and it's fun to join in a celebration. Most people don't even include anything religious in their Christmas celebration, anyway, or at least not anything Christian. It is full of various pagan symbols and rituals.
I'm sorry your ex has no time to connect with her daughter (if I'm reading this correctly). That is much harder for me to understand than the idea of non- Christians celebrating a holiday that was stolen from the pagans by the Christians.
