BGJW finale - I am disappoint
Watch out, spoilers ahead. But if you haven't seen it yet, why not?
The finale gave me no sense of closure. For one thing, I want Galina back! Was she still not talking to him by the time they were editing the episode?
Did he out himself? It seemed pretty frikkin' clear to me.
Stephanie H. the costumer was fabulous, as usual. Nothing perturbs that woman.
Tara was pretty awful, as usual. I simply cannot like her. His family was sweet and it was nice to see them, but sad to see their sadness at what transpired in Vancouver. Paris came over to mooch a meal, as usual. I've heard from some that they met him and he was sweet. He certainly can be cattily amusing. And maybe that's the editing, making Paris seem like a crappy BF. But Tara, no. We've seen enough of how she works professionally, and the answer there is that she is not professional. She's not helping Johnny's career, IMO.
Johnny seems very indecisive about his future. I can understand that; it's hard to be 25, after working 13 years towards a goal that is now over, for better or worse. I do think he has plenty of smarts and talent, as well as a delightful personality. After the crap he got from the ISU and USFSA and the media, I would like nothing so much as for him to succeed like crazy at whatever he chooses to do next. If that is figure skating choreography, great. If it's being a commentator, great. If it's being a designer, fabulous!
Oddly enough, I think he could act. He'd need a tough, no-nonsense director, but really, the boy is skilled with accents, with comedy, with reaching an audience. Like many actors, he desperately craves the audience's love and he adores being photographed.
So... lack of closure. I wanted to see Galina again. Hell, I wanted to see him make up with Priscilla. At least we got Dorothy Hamill and Tanith Belbin. Johnny was often funny, and darling, and sad. But... nobody knows what's next, not even him. And with Tara "guiding" him, I'm concerned. Also, didn't he say somewhere that he would answer the question about future competition in this finale? Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part. Nonetheless, I am disappoint. [/Galina]
