this was the perfect coda for this story. for so much of it, it seemed like it was only Tommy that was working to get past the hard things in life, but the ending brought out Adam's struggles, too.

That's an interesting point. Given that the whole thing was written in Adam's POV, maybe he was ignoring his own struggles in order to help Tommy deal with his.

Writing is an interesting adventure, isn't it?
