science in America from a labor perspective

This is an interesting article on how we've got a labor glut of scientists in dead-end postdoc positions and the like, and how this is misusing our young researchers and discouraging young people from careers in science: http://www.miller-mccune.com/science/

I remember back at Tech, seeing a flyer posted in the stairwell of one of the biology buildings that spoke to the dearth of jobs and abundance of workers. Doesn't seem to have changed much.

I've been hearing this type of stuff for ages.

I'm not sure what the author actually wants - fewer grad students? No more post docs? More professor positions? No more international students?

Also, racist much? Why the whining over the dearth of white men? Its all about the benjamins - if science paid more those guys would probably be more interested.
