i didn't like a lot of stuff this year, but i did like the wolf parade album, mostly for the songs by the guy with the frog eyes voice(spencer something) like "grounds for divorce" and "i'll believe in anything." anyway, apparently that guy is going to do an album with dan bejar and carey mercer from frog eyes, all of them working together, which totally blows my mind and makes me crazy with excitement. also, two albums worth checking out off the top of my head: okay's high road and low road are phenomenal and this album called "when the sun is the moon" by hudson bell. the sound is totally derivative of pavement and built to spill and bevis frond and a little dinosaur jr. but derivative as it is, how could you not like that? tons of lazy guitar solos and mid-tempo numbers. it's insanely mid-90s. oh, and the new 31 knots is great.

sweet, i'll check all those out. overall i was kinda disappointed with the years output. even though i have all the new releases, what i listened to for the most part is old stuff that i'd never managed to pick up (nilsson schmilsson, third/sister lovers, the clean, slint, etc.) are you in portland at all over break? coffee and record hopping sounds great.

i would have expected spoon to be up a little higher, but sufjan stevens at number 2 is a good call.

after seeing the sufjan stevens concert this summer I haven't listened to the album since because I was so disapointed. What seemed to be amazing on cd came off as dull and uninspiring live. however, as the rest of the list goes; in the words of jim morisson at the end his live cover of van morrison's "gloria":

...pretty good, pretty good
...pretty neat, pretty neat.

que onde guero?
