Comment and I'll ask you 5 questions, which you then post in your lj with the offer to ask other people questions. Or something like that.
1. Where is your favorite place to eat in Boston?
I'm bad at coming up with favorites. Last night I went to this Tibetan place in Davis that was SO DELICIOUS and it had lots of stuff with tofu. But there's also this Middle Eastern place near Central that has the best hummus I've ever eaten. And in fact I think I might have to go back there soon because it was just so fantastic and they have lots of interesting teas.
2. How did you get into contra dancing?
My dad dragged me to a dance when I was in 6th grade. I sulked all the way there and then on the way back home, I told him that my mouth hurt from too much smiling. He enjoys telling this story to anyone at dances who seems like they might be my friend.
I'm really glad that I dance because it's really what keeps being a grownup from being utter crap. The dance community is a relatively small subgroup in Boston, which definitely has its disadvantages, but it's also the only group I've found where everyone's really excited about meeting new people and making new friends.
3. Have you knit anything awesome recently?
I haven't really knit anything at all recently. I've got a bag, a sweater, and a pair of socks all in the works, but I haven't actually worked on them in ages. Also, I can't find part of the bag that I've already finished, which may be a problem. Especially since the straps on my Smith totebag are wearing pretty thin and I'll have to replace it soon.
The real problem is that I now have square dancing on the night that I used to have stitch n' bitch and while it would be nice to get to know more people in the area, I didn't really click with the knitters the way that I did with the dancers.
4. What was the last album you bought? Was it any good?
By "bought" I'm going to assume you meant "paid for" and that's actually two cds that I got at the same time back in January. Spoon's "Girls Can Tell", which I think on the whole, I like better than "Gimme Fiction" and Sunset Rubdown's "Shut up I am dreaming" which is now one of my favorite cds. Seriously, Sunset Rubdown is ridiculously good, if a little bit weird. They're an off-shoot of the band Wolf Parade and on this cd, they have a sound that's similar to the stranger songs by Wolf Parade (think "Grounds for Divorce" and "Dear Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts").
5. Describe an object that comforted you as a child. (and does it bother you that this isn't really a question?)
In a general sense, anything with a hood. I would wear hooded sweatshirts with the hood up year round and I've seen pictures of me with just the hood on and the rest of the sweatshirt behind me like a cape.
I also had two baby blankets there were a matched set - a yellow one named Amy and a blue one named Jamie - that I took with me everywhere when I was little. And then when my parents divorced, I kept one at each house, so also not so little. I haven't thought about them in year though; I wonder what happened to them? I think my mom has the pieces of my sister's comfort towel so maybe she's got Amy and Jamie. I'll have to ask next time I talk to her.
I don't mind at all that this isn't a proper question (though you totally could have reworded it so that it would be) because it's reminded me of happy childhood memories.
