They've decided that you can NO LONGER use their service for free and post pics somewhere on the Internet UNLESS you pay them an outrageous amount of 400 USD per year. The feedback on their FB page is of course rather negative, but PB doesn't want to reverse this bullshit idea (so far). If they haven't sniffed out your account so far, you're VERY lucky, but my whole LJ is a mess thanks to them.
I haven't used PB in YEARS. I had an account a long time ago, but I have my own domain that I practically use as space. But I wondered why so many icons were just disappearing.
I have my own domain that I use for space, so I'm not really sure what's around anymore. I do know of imgur (I think that's how it's spelled), just because a lot of people use it, and tinypic, but since I have my own space, I don't really know what's around anymore. Wish I could help, sweetie. :(
I didn't know they were owned by PB. The last time I've had to use something different for image hosting was back in the early 2000s and sites have changed so much since then.

Do NOT, by ANY means, upload anything to PB anymore!
Here's why:

tinypic is actually owned by PB, so I wouldn't be surprised if that one goes belly-up as well at some point, too.
