Since he received word about the Pigs' kidnappings, Shang had upped the frequency at which he'd taken to making rounds about the city, keeping an eye out for any Project members who may have gotten themselves into trouble. It was what a good soldier and leader should do, and these were his friends-- his family-- so he was hardly about to do otherwise.
He knew, of course, that it wasn't entirely safe for him to be out alone, but considering he had been one of the one's attacked earliest and the others who'd been attacked already hadn't been targeted again, he figured it was probably better him than someone else who hadn't yet-- Miller, for example. She flinched at his voice, the anger coming through more than the concern at first. Then she could feel that wafting over her, along with a familiar comfort and she almost cried in relief. Looking at him, seeing him, she stumbled to a stop, falling on her knees and bracing her good arm on the ground to keep from collapsing. He got to his knees as soon as she did, reaching out carefully to try to brace her and hoping he didn't touch anywhere that was injured. As she sobbed, he rubbed her back gently, calming words spilling out of his mouth, his attempts at comforting her being felt so strongly that she may feel his powers trying to alter her mood, although he obviously didn't realize he was doing it.
The entire time, though, one part of him was on alert, scanning the area for any attackers following her. There was a bit of quietly controlled rage in his voice when he responded, "Shouldn't have to need to be healing in the first place. Let me look at you."
He'd been carrying a small first aid kit about in case he needed it, so he drew it out of his pocket and set it open on the ground. The blood from the head wound's going to get mopped away first, so he could see how bad that was, first. And then, if it wasn't too serious, they'd get moving to somewhere safer. He didn't want her wandering any more until he was sure she was able to be

As soon as he touched her, she felt a wave of warmth and security, and she took a deeper, cleansing breath. She knew it was his own empathy at work on her, but she took it anyway, clinging to anything to push down the fear that had been driving her since earlier. Shang was safety and comfort all wrapped up in one
