according to some people i know, who actually know about computers, macs aren't any better than PCs for art and other creative stuff anymore. like, ten years ago, yeah apple was awesome. now, not so much. plus, they're going all big brother and it's creepy. plus, i went from mac to PC so she can shut up. i think you should just use what you like and are comfortable with. i'm sure tons of people have created something great on a PC. yeesh.

I have heard they are converting a lot of programs to PC use, which is weird. Also, I've heard that hackers are starting to target them, since Mac's are immune to 99% of PC viruses. I had a friend who shoved it in my face all the time that She couldn't get a virus. Whatevs to her, lol.

so few people use macs that it's not worth writing a virus to them. bill's analogy: a virus attacking macs is like "a biological virus attacking red haired, left handed people. it doesn't target much of the population."

heh. so the only reason she couldn't get a virus is because no one thought giving her one was worth it.

There is nothing that a mac can do that a PC can't do. Macs are for people who started out on them and don't want to change, for people who buy brand name things, or for people who can't ACTUALLY use computers (the mac is like a baby computer for people who can't use computers). Plus, Macs don't have the hardware to play games. Not to mention there's no way you can customize macs the way you can PCs ( ... )

Ah, forgot about the hating Vista. my apologies ^_^

(Though, that's why I bought a computer with XP ^_^ But to be fair, my dad is a PC builder and repairer, so he's able to get stuff that other people can't. And there's also Linux, but that's hard to use unless you ROCK at computers). Sorry if I sound bitter, but I had a run in with a few radical Mac lovers and that colored my view a bit. On the other hand, my best friend and my webcomic writer both love macs ^_^;; Mostly I have a problem with people telling me that b/c I'm an artist, I HAVE to have a mac, or I'm a sucky artist.

Boo Vista, I've tried using its version of Word, and everything's fucked. For instance, there is no "File" tab at the top, so if you want to look at that menu, you have to click a big Window's symbol. It was tough to explain to my mother who is ignorant in all things computers since I kept saying, "File> Open" to teach her how to open a saved Doc.

You are one point I was trying to make. You bought a mac and loved it for what it could do, and what you couldn't get at the time. Not because you were peer pressured into it and worried about your Starbucks Cred. And who knows what choice you will make if you ever have to buy a new comp, but I know for sure you would never let anyone bully you into it.

bill says the following

The great irony of the "I hate Vista so I got a Mac" argument is that the changes from XP to Vista were done largely to make Vista look and feel more like Mac OS. People claimed that Mac OS's interface was better and more user-friendly so Microsoft incorporated those elements into Vista.

The claim that one must use a Mac to write is just nonsense, plain and simple. Maybe a good word processor can make writing easier, but it can't really affect what you can do with your words. Mac, PC, stick in the dirt; it doesn't matter what you're writing with, it's the writer that makes the difference. If you're writing in a Starbucks so that people can see your Mac it's quite clear that you care about many things more than the actual words.

Dude, if you're "uncreative" because you prefer a pc, then I am epically boned for using Microsoft Word '03 as my word processor.

Unless you use that too; then we're both boned together. :Db
