Read this from my phone earlier, so I just replied briefly on Twitter, but congratulations again! I know how it feels to trade things in for an easier commute, and hopefully your studies will be smoother this time as well.
As for what made you change in the first place, I always say that life is a journey. Without those experiences, painful though they may be, you wouldn't be who you are. Everything that's happened to you has affected your worldview. So embrace the past, good and bad. Just don't let it keep you there. :)

It's closer, it's better study (for me, personally) and it's a shorter time to graduation. Looking back to before, I can't understand why I didn't make the change earlier. Well, hindsight 20/20, I guess. Change is hard.
