Working on my piece for the help_haiti auction, but figured I'd offer some drabbles too, for the hell of it. You guys know what I write, and who I write, what pups I play, etc. I'll write it if you ask for it. Annnnnnd, go.
It's six weeks after Ben Wade boarded a prison train headed for Yuma; five weeks after news of his escape hit the big papers, five weeks after the two guards who were shot dead in the process have been buried in the cold desert earth.
Dan Evans has made it this far - by some miracle, by some magical occurrence, who the hell knows anymore - and he has no plans on dying just yet.

Both men lift their head at the sound of the female voice echoing from inside the house, and Ben notices the way Dan winces as he turns towards the doorway.
"Out here, Alice."
"Daniel, what are you doing..."
Her voice falls quiet at the sight of the familiar black hat standing in the dirt in front of the porch, eyes narrowing slightly.
Ben smirks. "Yes, Daniel," he drawls. "Just what are you doing?"
"Wonderin' what you're doin' ridin' up to my house."
"Dan," Alice protests. "Y'should be lyin' down."
"I been lyin' down for the last month, Alice," he reminds her. "I ain't gonna hurt myself just standin' here

It seems like it's been raining for days -- weather currently a constant drizzle that beats against the glass as the wind swirls around the house -- and as much as Jack hates being stuck inside, he knows that heading out into the rain (and mud) won't do him any good.
