Wow, thank you for all of you kind words. Of course you can join my friends list! I just got up and running on a working computer, so I wasn't able to check out your journal before... plus I'm somewhat crazy busy as a grad student and I don't post all that often (as you'll find out).
I don't know if I would want the headache of having a Mellotron, as amazing as it would be. They have a tendency to go wonky in the tape mechanism, and then you are pretty screwed. I have been eying the Mellotron sample CD that they made because it includes all of the Chamberlains as well. Still, I haven't wanted to pay $200 for those sounds! A friend of mine and I are going to split the cost someday possibly.
Another thing you might already know about is the Optigan. It is basically the poor man's Mellotron. An optigan fan made an amazing sample CD of the Optigan as well, which is nice because again I don't know if I'd always want to deal with the Optigan organ (plus, as if I needed more expensive things to collect like rare Optigan disks).
