FF13: Closing thoughts (spoiler-free)

I've come to the realization that I'm just a few missions shy of all that FF13 has to offer -- challenge-wise, that is, because while I could spend dozens more hours of playtime maxing Crystariums and completing ultimate weapons and so forth, nothing the game offers really justifies that time expenditure. This would be typical though, that the endgame content doesn't offer you anything.

FF12 *somewhat* deviates from this because you can't really break the game with sheer equipment.

but otherwise, there hasn't been a game where the endgame is good (but not too good!) for beating the final boss since ff4.

Taking on the endgame content in FF12 will still make the boss ridiculously easy, if for no other reason than that the optional marks are so much harder than the final boss.

I have no problem with this, though.

The final boss of ff12 is pretty easy no matter what. I didn't do a single optional thing before him.

But that doesn't help that the boss is also ridiculously stupid and lame for a ff boss. I hope FF13 does good because the last good final boss was NECRON.

The game pulls sort of a FF10: it's a series of three battles with a long cutscene between the second and the third. The "real" last boss is the second battle, and the third is much easier (although, unlike FF10, it's still an actual fight and not a gimme).

It's a pretty good boss, though, IMO!
