Glad you are working on new stories and took your time to recommend books you have been reading. I have many of the Osprey books, but unfortunately no time to read them at the moment:( As for Heckel I have read parts of his books and from what I understand he must really be a leading authority on Alexander Studies, as you say. As for history I think that what happens in war and politics is always a shade of grey and not the very common division of black and white, which we use as a means of simplifying things in our heads(or perhaps modern historiography has begun immitatiting modern media representation tactics? Hmm, not sure). And reading ancient history can teach us so many things for the world we live in today. For me history does seems to repeat itself in it's essentials, even though the context of course, is very different.
I wasn't aware that Alexander had a reputation as more brutal than other military and political leaders of his time. I'm not surprised it's undeserved; without even reading anything about it, I would have expected equivalent levels of brutality throughout the Hellenistic world. Back then life truly was nasty, brutish and short, war was ugly and fought hand to hand, and civilians were considered fair game

Hi...long time no see. Thank you for all recommendation, i will definitely look into these when i have time. Also, glad to know also that you are starting writing a new fic :)
Lovely to hear from you as always! Sorry it's been so long!
I have just finished a couple of Alexander stories - one I think is finally ready for posting. Not much romance in it, but the one which will (hopefully) follow is a bit more romantic!!
