Amazing as all your stories :) I'm glad that you came back. Can't wait for more to come. I always loved how you portrayed their early years, in a kind of innocent way. And I know what you mean, I was also strongly affected by M.R's fiction...it is hard for me to find better published fiction on Alexander than her...
I like your Philip, a real, well-sketched character, not only a simple drunkard, as he is portrayed in many stories. And your scenes are so well executed that I can imagine the characters and their interaction.

Don't keep us waiting for too long ;)

Hello!

Thank you for such lovely words - I'm glad you're enjoying it so far!

Renault does cast a long shadow - there are other great Alexander novels but after Renault there are very few I like. I had many objections to Fire from Heaven and The Persian Boy, but I loved every minute of The King Must Die and The Bull from the Sea and I cannot fault her writing style. (Weirdly enough, I've always enjoyed reading Renault based fanfics much more than ones based on the film!)

My Philip is getting a really good response and I'm so pleased - I think he's an interesting man and I hate seeing him dismissed as a drunken oaf; I always feel his rows with Alexander are, as they say, six of one and half a dozen of another!

Hope you like the next part - Happy Christmas!

Always well written stories from you :) Actually we are in a strong need for decent Alexander-stories lately...I've read some CRAP here and there...well, read is not the righ word, I had a look just to see what they were about but in most cases the summary was enough to guess how bad they were :P You're right, you were a little too much under Renault's influence here - and your stories have really improved now - but it's a quite good story anyway, with sweet Alexander-Hephaestion (a little too sweet, maybe...) and a great Philip. I'll read the next chapters and I'll tell you :)
And btw, what about Nadja Lee fanzine? Any news?

Hello!!!! How lovely to hear from you!!!!

I agree (if I'm allowed to!) that my writing and my storytelling have come on alot since I wrote this - I can't actually remember if I wrote it before the Ivory Eros but it was certainly very early.

As far as Renault goes - because she was the first serious Alexander novelist I came across she still casts a long shadow! (The first Alexander NOVEL I read was Paul Doherty's "The house of death" but that wasn't much to write home about.) I think when I wrote this I was trying to shake off her persistent image of a non-sexual Alexander and lovelorn Hephaestion - you'll see what I mean as the story progresses!

I know the fanzine was finally published and I received a copy (because I submitted this story)but so far I haven't had feedback. IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW IT'S DOING, LET ME KNOW!!! I haven't read the other stories in it, but there were some of Barbara's pics in it which were great!

Hope the studies continue to go well! Happy Christmas!!
