Alexander is getting jealous...how sweet.
He will realise he has to do something now to prevent Heph from going to that other boy/man...right? ;)

Hmmm...

Well it won't be that simple. The darkest hour is before dawn and all that... it won't be so easy for Alexander and Hephaestion to sort out their differences! But I hope that makes it a little more fun for you?

Happy New Year moon :)

I loved the turn of events in this chapter. Alexander seems to be very jealous and anxious about losing his Hephaistion to this admirer. Maybe he will overcome his fears after all?

I also loved how Hephaistion set things straight about his being close to the Alexander and his family's role in all this. I can imagine the real Hephaistion being strong like that, defending his family and being able to defend his choices in general.

Eagerly awaiting the next chapter, which will hopefully resolve this cliff-hanger!

Thank you!!!

Sorry I've been slow to update, but here we go!

Well Alexander is confused - I think he wants to have his cake and eat it too. But Hephaestion isn't putting up with that. Like you I can imagine him having to be tough - if he wasn't a complete toady, which I don't think he was, he would have had to be tough to assert himself over Alexander's powerful personality - and those of both is parents!

This is rather a more sentimental story than my later ones, but I hope Hephaestion's strength continues to shine through regardless!

Very interesting!

BTW, feel free to send on the e-mail that got bounced back to my gmail account. I may want to pick your brain on the eromenos/erastes connection, as I envision Kitazawa using that analogy with Eiri to describe where he sees their relationship going and to assure him that there's nothing odd or unusual about it, not even in the West; after all, the Greeks, the founders of Western civilization, did it, as did Buddhist monks and samurai in Japan.

I will try to find the last email I sent you and forward it on. Is it the user name as above, with gmail.com? Sorry to be thick ( ... )
