Controlling who adds me to their friends page

Apr 17, 2009 09:34

Does anyone know how to control who can add me as a friend? I had this problem with Friendster that I had random people who aren't the kind of people I'd EVER add as a friend, sending me friend requests.

I don't want these people reading my journal. I don't want them adding me as a friend.

I don't think you can control them friending you, but you can ban them from posting in your journal and seeing friends-locked posts.

That's just weird. LJ stalkers. What an odd concept. Lock posts as friends only?

I'm getting friended by fake accounts in Russian.

Shortly after they friend me they are usually deleted by LJ. I think they're just farming for random connections or something.

AFAIK, there's no way to stop it.

That's exactly what I'm seeing. And based on the 'lovely' lady who is adding me as her friend, I'm confident that we'd never have anything in common that I'd want her reading my journal.

Based on recent experience, I doubt it's even a picture of that person.

This is why I just friendslock everything, dude. That way, only the people you friend can see anything.

Yep, you can't prevent people from viewing your public posts. They only way to do that is to make all your posts friends only. You can ban people and that way they cannot post to your LJ if you have public posting allowed and they will no longer show up on your profile page under people who have friended you (sort of out of sight, out of mind). Here's the page to ban people:
