I would tend to think that the perspective of this would be scary to most people rather than cause a sense of one-ness to the poeple of earth.

Just my opinion,would love to be wrong.

The message I take from Sagan's description of this picture is more related with the concept of humility, something that puts arrogance into place. But you're right, of course it is scary, nobody wants their world-view foundations to be shaken. People still like the feeling that they are the center of the universe...

The human race is supposed to function in groups, and even when they don't exist naturally, they are artificially formed (street gangs, sport clubs, etc). My guess is that that one-ness you were talking about will be reached only when a common enemy/obstacle will threaten the whole world. My enemy's enemy is my friend, even if earlier it was just another enemy. That's the way we work...

Maybe. But I don't know, I just work here...
